At the bottom of the window there is a reinforced metal edge that the window is clamped into, this edge is called the window lift channel. The window lift channel is attached to the window mechanism and is tightened around the window. The rubber will catch on the window and using an old rubber will prevent the window from closing properly. Mark the middle where the old window lift channel is installed and not the ends as the old and new channels may be different lengths. Remove the old channel and install the new one using only glycerine if you need a lubricant. If you use any other material the rubber may be damaged and you will have to start over after six months. Close the window and keep it closed for as long as possible as if you used glycerine it needs to dry first. If you lower the window too quickly there is a good chance it will come off the window lift channel. Note: Make sure the glass is properly installed on the window lift channel to ensure the window operates smoothly, a window that is difficult to slide can cause the window structure to fail.
