The preheating pipes of the intake manifolds are sealed near the engine coating guide by 2 plates which are insulated to prevent the heat from the engine under the vehicle from passing through to the engine compartment. After many years of use this insulating material has become brittle and no longer seals properly. BBT can now supply the insulating material from stock from 08/60 in kits suitable for all Type 1 engines except AR 1300CC engines.

The later air-cooled ones have a different shape (found under part number 1057). 100% new product, but due to decades of storage there are signs of oxidation on it.
