From August 1969, the oil channels in the crankcase were widened from 8 to 10 mm, and at the same time the oil cooler openings. So, in order to be able to mount the new 10 mm oil cooler on an 8 mm crankcase, VW developed this adapter set. Of course, an old 8 mm cooler can also be mounted on a 10 mm crankcase the other way around. To do this, you need to use 3 washers located between the cooler and the crankcase.
